Dear FYC Members, family, friends and previous participants (apologies for any duplications)
We are again looking forward to a fantastic training program from 27-31 December 2018 inclusive.
It is important to note the places per program need to be strictly managed to ensure that the coach-to-participant ratio is maintained, as well as the focus on safety: course places will be filled on a first-come basis for each training course the timing indicated below is also subject to change to maintain optimal ratios.
In 2018, the courses on offer are:
Tackers 1 – Having Fun (beginner level) 9:00am - 1:00pm - Introduction to fun sailing and confidence on water for those just starting. Conducted in Optis. Ideal for ages 7-12
Tackers 2 - Tricks and Techniques 2:00pm - 6:00pm - Sailing Solo - be ready for better sailing, tricks, techniques and sailing safely by yourself and starting to learn about how to race. Conducted in Optis. For those who have completed Tackers 1 or who have limited sailing experience.
Tackers 3 - Sailing fast 2:00pm - 6:00pm - Sail Fast and get into racing. Tackers 3 is all about how to sail as fast as you can. We will introduce some racing concepts but still keep the competitive element out of Tackers. For anyone who has completed Tackers 2 and feeling comfortable sailing by themselves.
Adult / Teenage Start Sailing 1 & 2 (Beginner level) 9:00am - 1:00pm Yachting Australia Small Boat Sailing Basic Skills 1 and 2 program (13 years +) Adults/Teenagers. Parents – Don’t let the kids have all the fun! Why not also learn to sail whilst your kids sail? At the end of the course we expect that you would be able to jump on any boat, big or small and be a confident sailing crew member. The course will be in Yachting Victoria Pacers or in your own boat.
Better Sailing (Intermediate level) 9:00am - 1:00pm (Teenagers and Adults) For graduates of Tackers 3 and for teenagers and adults who have done Start Sailing 1 + 2 or have had some prior sailing experience. Conducted in Pacers.
Start Racing 2:00pm - 6:00pm (Teenagers and Adults) For graduates of Better Sailing and who would like to start competitive sailing. The course focuses on refining enhanced boat handling skills including speed control and manoeuvres. Introducing basic racing tactics and strategies. Conducted in Pacers.
AND AGAIN THIS YEAR:
Better Racing 2.00pm – 6.00pm - (Teenagers and Adults) Having enjoyed your introduction to racing it is now time to improve your performance and compete at a higher level. A greater understanding of tactics, wind patterns and boat tuning techniques will all help you get there. An introduction toTeam Sailing included!
The registration fee for all courses includes entry to the FYC Beach party on Saturday 30 December from 7pm, BBQ food, games, treasure hunt, egg toss, ice cream eating competition all included, sure to lots of fun for all. Siblings and friends of Participants welcome! – entry $10 each
