Reminder for the Working Bee

Please rsvp so we know who is coming and can do some planning

The Club workingbee, is scheduled for 15 October, please put the date in your diary, we need a big effort to get the Club and surrounds ready for the season, as always there are many jobs to do.  Below is a list of tasks we have developed and suggested tools we will need help with. Please consider how you can help. Please make every effort to get to the workingbee however if you cannot, and can help with any of the tasks please contact Nick Hayne or myself.

  • Kayak rack – removing any kayaks left and repairing the rack. Tools required: saw, drill, etc.
  • Cutting the Salt Bush down to grass level – this will help thicken it up, make it stronger and shoot new soft growth quickly - tools required: pruning shears and hedge trimmers
  • Opening the gap to the beach to 2 metres.
  • Behind the shed and outside of the compound: moving trailers and cutting the grass – tools required: whipper snippers.
  • Behind the shed and inside the compound: moving trailers/boats and cutting the grass, removing weeds – tools required: whipper snippers.
  • Kill Rusting the shed door frames – tools required: wire brush, YC to provide Dulux Metalshield Zinc Galv Spray, masking tape and ladders.
  • BBQ clean/saftey check
  • Missing tower Light – Pete is running with his – will need someone to hold the ladder.
  • Cleaning out the cupboards in the Clubhouse - Ingrid and Maria are running with this.
  • Patching the drive - Hugh will be running with this and have a trailer ready with 20mm screenings (no fines) – tools required: spade.
  • Gather and Dispose of unwanted item in the compound and shed.
There are 2 projects we have that can be done outside of the working bee if you cannot attend:
    • 3m x 2m pavers for BBQ – tools required: digging, paving and cement mixing tools, YC to provide washed sand, gravel, cement and pavers.
    • Building 2 steps between the tower and the clubhouse
  •

If either of these interest you and you’d like to put together a small team – let us know.

Note: It is the responsibility of any member who brings a tool that they have the appropriate safety equipment, eg: whipper snippers require a full face mask, hearing protection, gumboots and long pants
